Plenty of people discover with alarm that they were born while a planet was retrograde. Relax: roughly a third of all births feature Mercury retrograde alone. In a natal chart, retrograde motion simply changes a planet's direction of expression — inward.
The inward-turn principle
A direct planet expresses outwardly, socially, immediately. A retrograde one revisits, internalises and matures late — but often more profoundly. Think of it as the planet speaking with an accent only you fully hear at first.

- Venus retrograde: love values feel unconventional or delayed; relationships teach re-definition of beauty and worth.
